I have put petrol in my diesel car. What now?
Do not start it. If you are already driving, pull over and switch off as soon as it is safe. Then call
0333 366 1243. The consultation is free, and an engineer reaches you in about 46 minutes and drains it on the spot.
Does it matter how much went in?
No amount of wrong fuel is safe to drive on. Petrol strips lubrication in a diesel at a few percent, so a splash is still contamination and diluting it removes nothing. Whatever went in, 5 litres, 20 litres or a full tank, do not start the engine.
I put unleaded in my diesel. Same thing?
Yes. Unleaded and petrol are the same fuel, so it is a petrol-in-diesel misfuel and the advice is identical. It is the most common call we take, because a diesel filler neck accepts an unleaded nozzle easily.
How much does it cost to fix?
A roadside drain is one price, quoted before we set off, and a fraction of what a main dealer charges to strip and replace fuel-system parts. It depends on where you are, what you drive and how much needs removing. Ring and we will tell you plainly, and that part is free.
Where do you cover?
The whole UK. Mobile units across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including fuel drains in Glasgow, Bristol, Exeter, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff, with an average arrival of about 46 minutes.
